Desktop Support Engineer Job Description

    The Desktop Support Engineer assists the client’s staffs with their trading floor-centric computer desktop systems. This position interfaces with engineering, networking, development, and operations teams to provide top-quality systems functionality, support, and service to our hedge fund clients.

    The Desktop Engineer position requires high levels of professionalism, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to quickly learn new technologies and their utilization in state-of-the-art trading environments.

     

    Essential Functions Include:

    • Work closely with client portfolio managers, traders, and IT professionals to provide superior trading technology capabilities and support to our range of predominantly hedge fund clients.
    • Create and manage standardized desktop images and applications packaging; physical set up for computers and software system installation for various applications and programs.
    • Act as on-site presence to test computers and all related computer systems, networks, and applications to ensure they are functioning properly.
    • Identify and resolve problems affecting computer operation systems.
    • Escalate to Systems Engineering, Network Engineering staff as required.
    • Work with Network Engineering staff to resolve networking issues, set up portals, connect to switch or firewalls, ensure effective networking operations, maintenance and support.
    • Upgrade computer hardware and software as required.
    • Train client employees on the use of computer hardware and software systems.
    • Ensure incident ticket requests are closed on time and with high client satisfaction.
    • Perform duties on rotation-based schedule as part of 24/7/365 support required.

     

    Desired Skills & Experience

    • Three+ years’ experience in providing Desktop IT Support within a sophisticated Trading Floor environment, where high levels of service and technical expertise were required.
    • Strong communication and customer service skills across all levels of an organization.
    • Proven ability to support trading professionals, as well as collaborate with all levels of IT staff.

    Senior System Engineer

     

    Location: New York Metropolitan Area / Hybrid Remote

     

    • Design, implement and support multiple client systems infrastructures in private cloud, hybrid cloud, and public cloud enterprise platforms.
    • Provide expert knowledge and command of industry best practices, including fault-tolerant design, as well as security and performance optimization, for mission-critical implementations.
    • Analyze overall client system requirements.
    • Ensure exceptional security, stability, and effective integration with clients’ applications and infrastructure.

    Core Requirements

    The Client Remote Support Engineer position requires high levels of professionalism, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to quickly learn new technologies and their utilization in state-of-the-art trading environments.

     

    Beyond this, successful candidates must:

    • Act as a visible and critical front-line interface to the client’s full range of (largely) hedge fund clients.

    • Knowledge of React, Node, XML, Restful APIs
    • Experience with Workflow tools, Customization, and 3rd Party Software.

    Preferred qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • A minimum of 1 year of experience using React.js
    • A minimum of 1 year of experience using Java
    • A minimum of 1 year of experience using Python
    • A minimum of 1 year of experience using Representational State Transfer (REST)
    • A minimum of 1 year of experience using Quark XPress
    • A minimum of 1 year of experience using XML
